Morning Checklist for People Who Are Always Late
If you’re always late, your checklist must be short and binary. A complex routine increases cognitive load and invites failure when you’re stressed. Working memory limits make multi-step juggling unreliable under pressure.
Use a two-part checklist:
Part A: ready-to-leave (2 minutes)
- Clothes on, bag packed, phone charged enough.
- Keys/phone/wallet together at the same spot.
Part B: exit routine (30 seconds)
- Door locked once.
- Quick safety scan if relevant (stove off if used).
- Checklist mark and go.
The goal is cognitive offloading: to make leaving reliable even when you’re mentally overloaded.
Never forget anything before you leave the house.
